1. What motivated you to take a course abroad? How did you learn about IBS Americas?
We are in a constantly evolving world and it is essential to update ourselves on new market trends and even more so in a market as competitive as the United States. The IBS Americas program suits my lifestyle because it is short and feasible for me. I discovered the course through a group of graduates on Facebook from my university.
2. How did you choose the course and the university? What factors contributed to your decision?
I was looking for something in Marketing and I liked the program at the University of La Verne. It also gives you a chance to get to know California better.
3. What were the main challenges you faced being in another country, with another language and colleagues of different nationalities?
I think the most difficult thing was adapting quickly, finding the balance between jet lag, studies and all the places I wanted to see. However, I did it. In general, the colleagues were very friendly and everything was very fast.
4. How do you assess the quality of teaching, infrastructure and resources offered by the university?
The quality of teaching is very high. I liked the infrastructure and the resources.
5. What about the routine, how did you organize studying and enjoying your free time? What did you do during those times?
I did everything, I ended up tired, but happy. I would wake up very early to read the material before class, go to class, then try to go to the university gym, and when I got back I would take the opportunity to visit places near the university.
6. How were the experiences of lectures and/or visits to companies?
Interesting. It is valuable to be able to talk to managers about their experience in the company.
7. Were you able to network during the course? Could you share some interesting experiences?
Yes, during visits and with classmates. Also through LinkedIn, which allowed connections during classes.
8. What were the key skills you developed during the course?
Learning about Marketing trends, key terms, the US market and diverse perspectives. The cases and class discussions were quite nutritious. You certainly get different perspectives and analyses of different cases.
9. How do you think this international experience will contribute to your career?
In many ways. I am applying everything I have learned to present Marketing proposals, negotiate and also with my clients’ campaigns.
10. What message would you leave for other students and professionals who wish to take a course abroad with IBS Americas?
It is a great opportunity to share with people from all over the world, to expand knowledge and perspectives from markets other than Latin America. I commend the IBS Americas team for their commitment and guidance before and during the study trip.
